With these four words, it is so ordered, millions of Lesbian and Gay citizens in America, and around the world, found last Wednesday’s ruling that overturned Prop 8 to be a GODSEND! Yes, I said it, a GODSEND! Because what we have been saying all along, that Prop 8 was UNCONSTITUTIONAL has been proven to be just that. And for the last nearly 96 hours I have been happy and smiling without knowing why. And when I do remember why, my smile gets wider and wider! The air seems clearer. The birds seem to be chirping more, and the sun seems brighter. But those in the struggle know the battle is still not over.
 
One of the things the Judge Walker stated was that there was no evidence that Same Couple Marriage harmed “traditional marriage.” The six states that currently allow Same Couple Marriage are Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire. The world didn’t come to an end nor did the roof fall in. The opponents of Same Couple Marriage have done nothing to prove we cause them any harm. And they had the same opportunities to present evidence that it does and came up with NOTHING!
 
Iowa, the only state to perform Same Couple Marriages not on the east coast, has seen a jump in tourism. Why? Because Lesbians and Gays in the Mid-west can go to Iowa and get married. Since there is a three day waiting period to get married in Iowa, money is being spent in the local economy. For an country that is still in the midst of a recession, that extra money is a blessing. Do you hear that California?
 
In the now four days since the ban was repealed, the Republican party has been eerily silent on the ruling. And these are the people who have been on the front lines of opposing Same Couple Marriage. With mid-term elections coming up, they are afraid to make Same Couple Marriage an issue. Especially since the economy, health care, the federal deficit, the war, unemployment, and immigration, seem to be more important than Same Couple Marriage. Or maybe the Republican party is seeing the writing on the wall. The tide is changing and Same Couple Marriage isn’t and never should have been an issue.
 
It is so ordered. No finer words were EVER uttered!

I’ll admit it. I don’t like nor respect Sarah Palin. She’s a hypocritical simpleton who needs to go back to being a “soccer mom” and stop trying to be a politician. She seems to put her foot in her BIG MOUTH on a regular basis seemingly to keep her name in the news. But this last one is so funny that when I read it, I couldn’t stop laughing. At a Tea Party convention where Palin was a speaker, it was found that she had written crib notes on the left hand!
 
I have never done any real public speaking even though I am a ham. A family trait I might add. But I can imagine that in preparing for a speech, you might want to hit a few highlights. In this case, the highlights consisted of just three topics, “energy,” “tax cuts” and “lift American spirits.” So I’m guessing she was going to “blow smoke” in between these three topics. The thing that made me laugh was the fact that she couldn’t remember 6 words? I know. She’s a mama. And I’ve heard that kids take years off of their parent’s lives and working cells from their brains. But she couldn’t remember 6 words? And I thought being able to “see Russia from her back door” was bad!
 
As I said before, she’s not a person who I give a damn about. So this is confirmation of just what a LOSER she really is. She didn’t have the brains to hide it well. She was caught looking at her hand during the speech. During her speech, Ms. Palin had savaged President Obama as a “charismatic guy with a teleprompter” — a line that got one of several cheering ovations from the audience. I guess with the recession, the Republican Party can’t afford a teleprompter. They use the “old school” teleprompter, HANDS! Hell, even children in school know how to show more finesse in cheating on a school test!
 
I hope this is the “great white hope” of the Republican party because she makes them look “real good” almost every time she steps out into the public!

One of the many things that this recession has done is to hold up a mirror to how Americans think and feel about money. Because those people who already have more money that God should allow want more and those people who don’t have any money, want to be able to keep a roof over their heads. And those people in between just want to keep what little they have. Yet it has been those people who have the most who are doing and saying anything to keep it. And as an example, I present South Carolina Lt. Governor Andre Bauer to equated feeding/giving poor people welfare to “feeding stray animals.
 
People are poor for a myriad of reasons. Some people are born into poverty and can never vision another way of living. Some people are forced into poverty by a job loss, a death of the primary wage earner, or a medical disaster. And yes, there are some people for whom welfare is a right of passage. But NO ONE with more than one working brain cell can say that waiting on a check is living because it isn’t. It’s existing. And that isn’t living! But here is where the mirror that is being held up to vilify the poor is being conveniently covered up when it is aimed at CORPORATE WELFARE!
 
The American Government has given BILLIONS OF DOLLARS to FOR PROFIT CORPORATIONS who have mis-managed, stolen, fraudulently spent, and gave out in bonus’s, to people who have been eating with silver spoons for decades! Not to mention people who run Corporations who on top of THEIR WELFARE also get LOCAL, STATE, and FEDERAL TAX BREAKS! These same people spent millions on “corporate junkets and vacations”, and corporate jets, luxury sports sky boxes, and expensive alcohol and food that was as abundant as McDonald hamburgers. Yet these exact same “Captains of Industry” came with their hats in their hands to the Government trough and got billions of “Corporate Welfare Money.” Oh, sorry, the term for Corporate Welfare is “BAILOUT!” If poor people, many of whom never had a chance to succeed are “stray animals”, what would you call people who have WASTED more money than has been paid out to welfare recipients? LEECHES! BLOODSUCKERS? MOLD? FUNGUS? Whatever is considered LESS than ANIMALS, that is what they are!
 
Bauer’s comments have been met with scorn by both Republicans and Democrats alike. And he has stated that he meant what he said, he just should have used another word for animal. What a great guy! I would love to hear him explain giving BILLIONS to RICH PEOPLE would be considered. And what word he would apply to these WELFARE TAKERS? He’d probably call them “FRIENDS“, COLLEAGUES, DONORS, and SUPPORTERS.

With all of the things that are going wrong in this world, it amazes me the being Gay seems to be at the top of everyone’s list. Something that has nothing to do with you, unless you are gay, has become the talk of the global world. And as usual, Black people the world over, are being used to spread the hate. Much like Blacks were crucified and vilified in California with the passing of Prop 8, the nation of Uganda is being used to take hate against Gay people to a whole new level!
 
A group called the International Healing Foundation is traveling the world stating that Gay people can be turned straight. This idea was presented to the Ugandan Parliament earlier this year and from that session, a bill calling for the execution of gays was drafted. Not only that, but if a person knows someone who is gay, they are required to turn that person in to the authorities or face prison time themselves. Renting homes or apartments to gays can also get you prison time. Doctors can be jailed for treating HIV/AIDS patients or gays. People with HIV/AIDS can be executed. Gay people period can be executed. Even Ugandans living in other countries can be executed for homosexual activity. WTF????
 
What is even more appalling about what Uganda is attempting to do is the silence coming from Washington. There has been no comment from any members of our government. But then again. What could they possible say without being considered hypocrites? The Defense of Marriage Act/DOMA and Don’t Ask Don’t Tell are still on the books. And as I said in earlier posts, if the United States federal government discriminates against Lesbians and Gays, why should states not follow right behind them? And if the most powerful nation in the world discriminates against Lesbians and Gays, why shouldn’t other countries take it a step further? And to top it off, many of the Anti Gay Hate groups in Uganda are being funded by the UNITED STATES!

On a recent trip to Japan, President Obama bowed to his counterpart, Emperor Akihito. This act of RESPECT is being met with hoots and howls from conservatives who feel that was the wrong thing to do. They are saying that by bowing, Obama is making America “look bad.” Where have these people been the last 8 years?
 
The reason America looks bad ALL OVER THE WORLD is because for DECADES we have gone around the world treating people however the FUCK we wanted to. Then when and if anyone complained, they were met with “yeah and” attitudes. We force people who come over to this country to speak English and then when we go to their country, we expect them to understand English. We have bombed, financially raped, bullied, cajoled, and threatened, countries into attacking Iraq and Afghanistan with a lie about “weapons of mass destruction” and found NOTHING! The world is not safer and instead of making friends, or at least have working relationships with countries different from ours, we have created millions of enemies. According to conservative pundit, William Kristol, a bow is making us look “weak and overly deferential?” A Bow!
 
Most people feel sorry for bullies. Because they already know that the reason bullies act the way they do is because they have low self esteem. And they need to push other people around to feel superior. Sounds EXACTLY how America is viewed by most of the world. Yet this act of KINDNESS and RESPECT is bad “for America?”

After the passage of Prop 8 in california, it was fashionable to blame “blacks and hispanics” because on the whole, some of them voted for it’s passage. Long discussions were bantered back and forth about “how could ‘they’ vote to legalize discrimination.” Blogs were posting daily after the passage of Prop 8 about how to “reach out to ‘those communities.’ ” But I have yet to hear ONE WORD from ANYONE in the Lesbian or Gay communities about the “white people” who just passed Prop 1 in the state of maine!
 
The state of maine has over 1.3 million people in it according to the 2008 census. Of that 1.3 million people, 97% is white. So the passage of Prop 1 in maine was done by white people! Where are the Lesbian and Gay voices now? Where is the blaming, the gnashing of the teeth, and the name calling now? The silence is deafening!
 
As I had stated when Prop 8 passed, even if every registered black and hispanic voted for Prop 8, that was NOT the deciding factor. The vote was passed by white people! Yet the “minorities” took the brunt of the criticism for the passage. It wasn’t appreciated THEN and it still isn’t appreciated.
 
So hear this white Lesbians and Gays. You BETTER keep blacks and hispanics name OUT OF YOUR MOUTHS when it comes to Same Couple Marriage. Because while there is no excuse for BIGOTRY, DISCRIMINATION, and/or HATE, white people are the ones passing these propositions. So before you start looking into someone else’s backyard, CLEAN UP YOURS FIRST! Because RACISM is still the “biggest ism” there is. And your silence on this issue JUST PROVES IT!
 
Oh, but don’t get this SHIT twisted blacks and hispanics. That doesn’t get you off the hook ONE BIT! Because for a group of people who CONTINUE to experience discrimination, to turn around and do it to someone else is PATHETIC! You, those “minorities” who voted for Prop 8, are still BIGOTS, POOR EXCUSES FOR HUMAN BEINGS and COWARDS! And don’t YOU forget that EITHER!

A breaking news story has just broken. Actor, and that is debatable, Charlie Sheen, is DEMANDING to meet with President Obama about the “cover up concerning 9/11.” Why I am writing on this, I DON’T KNOW! Maybe I’m getting tired of all of the attacks that are coming fast and furious in the 8 months that Barack has been in office. Or maybe it’s because a drug using, wife abusing, prostitute visiting BITCH like Sheen has a lot of nerve to DEMAND ANYTHING!
 
I don’t recall hearing “Good time Charlie” DEMANDING to meet with Bush during the 7 years immediately after 9/11 occurred. And that included the information that come out, DURING BUSH’S TERM, that there were no weapons of Mass Destruction which was the excuse to attack Iraq in the first place. Nor do I recall hearing him say anything about the BILLIONS of dollars that have been spent on the war. Again, done under BUSH’S TERM. Nor do I recall him saying anything about the millions of people who have lost their lives or limbs on both sides of this of this war. But he now has the AUDACITY to DEMAND to meet with Obama? What kind of SHIT is that?
 
Take a word of advice Chuck. Why don’t you go and pick up some alcohol, some drugs, and a hooker and have a good time. Because NO ONE CARES ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DEMANDING!!!!

I have watched with bemused disinterest all of the fussing, arguing, and fighting that has occurred at the Health Care town hall meetings. Because it is under the guise of “health care” that GROWN ADULTS are acting like children and literally getting into fist fights. But the real reason has nothing to do with the medical profession. It has to do with the hate that has come to the service since President Barack Obama was elected.
 
I find it interesting that most if not all of the people who attend these are WHITE and MIDDLE AGED! The same people who probably already have health care. For them, this is an more about yelling and screaming about “Obama” and less about how to make sure that everyone has access to proper medical care. My brother was recently in the hospital for two weeks and it seemed like almost EVERY DAY he was telling my mother and I about the shoddy treatment he was receiving. Oh did I mention that he is a former PSYCH NURSE and that my mother is a former R.N.? So you can well imagine that with other 50 years worth of knowledge between then, they KNOW EXACTLY what proper care medical care is supposed to look like?
 
For those people who have more than one brain cell, they should remember that health care is reform is not a new phenomenon. During the Clinton Administration, President Clinton attempted to reform health care along with the aid of his wife, Hillary Clinton. But there was such a backlash against then first lady and current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, that eventually, it was shelved. Again, the subterfuge was not “health care” , it was to keep a “woman in her place.”

Ever since Barack Obama has been elected president, the right wing NUT JOBS have been having a field day with their criticism of “EVERYTHING OBAMA.” From the “homey handshake“ between Obama and President Hugo Chavez, to the “baggy jeans“ to the “the cop acted stupidly”, there has been a backlash against the president. And that includes political pundits who have shot off their mouths with impunity. Well it looks like one of those pundits, Glenn Beck, has put his big foot in his even BIGGER MOUTH and it is going to cost him and his TV station.
 
On a number of occasions, Beck has called President Obama “a racist” and has said that Barack “hates white people.” He has also stated this on his radio show. As usual, the “home network, Fox“, immediately distanced itself from Beck’s statement but nothing else was done. Since there is NO EVIDENCE that this statement is true, and only seems to have been made because Beck is one of the “my America People” these statements have been found to have offended many people. If is for that reason, there has been a concerted effort by members of the Colorofchange.org has contacted Fox sponsors and threatened a boycott unless they discontinue supporting Beck’s nonsense. And “big business” has listened!
 
CVS, Wal-Mart, Clorox, Sprint, and 29 other business have requested that their commercials not be aired during Beck’s show. And as we all know, advertising helps pay the bills. And for big name advertisers to request that Beck not benefit from their ads is HUGE!
 
Hopefully this will send a chill through the other loud mouths. Among them, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Beck. Not to stop their right to “freedom of Speech” but to let them know that those days of “unchallenged racism and racist remarks are OVER!”

SCLC, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, has decided that the reason for their very existence, Tolerance and Equality for All, doesn’t extend to Same Couple Relationships. The amnesia of the leaders of that organization as to what they stand for, is being played out by their threats to fire a straight, African American Reverend, Eric Lee, who was public in his opposition to Prop 8. And his very public opposition just might cost him his job!
 
I find it amazing that the one group of people, African Americans, who have and continue to experience hate like no other group, thinks nothing of doing that to Lesbians and Gays. I understand your feelings that the Black Civil Rights movement is being overshadowed by the Gay Rights movement. And I understand that the comparison can be offensive. But the bottom line is this. Because our Black elders have failed to teach the younger generations our collective history, far too many youngsters don’t know anything more about the Civil Rights movement other than what we learned in school. And as we all know, that is minimal at best and a complete JOKE AT WORSE. And whether you like it or not, the comparisons are EXACTLY THE SAME! The same arguments that were used to try and justify not giving African Americans Civil Rights and stopping Interracial Marriage 50 years ago have been dusted off and are being used to discriminate against Same Couple Relationships. In a post I wrote on May 21, 2009, titled “Is Gay the New Black?” I listed eight different reasons why the struggles are the same. And these reasons include: education, religion, employment, housing, violence, health care, government, and marriage. Anyone with an open mind can’t deny the comparisons, PERIOD!
 
Slowly but surely, African Americans are alienated the very people who helped, fought, stood, and died for us to be in the position that we are in now. And our failure to say “thanks” and to return the failure won’t be forgotten nor should it be. So when the next atrocity occurs, like Hurricane Katrina, and we are shown and told EXACTLY where we stand in this country, and we run for help, we should be surprised when the Lesbian and Gay neighbors lock the door, close the curtains, and turn off the lights! Nor should we be surprised when African American Lesbian and Gays who have plenty of discretionary income to spend, stop spending it with you!
 
Time is going to show that opposing Same Couple Marriage was wrong. And when our children and grandchildren as us why we did it, what are you going to say that makes sense? That the bible, the same bible that STILL SAYS WE SHOULD BE SLAVES AND BE CONTENT WITH OUR LOTS IN LIFE, told us to do it? Or that an organization that fought for EQUALITY is now against it. The SCLC should be ashamed of themselves.
