I bet she wasn’t Black!

I read recently that a stranger walked up to a woman and her screaming child and told both of them, “shut that kid up or I will shut her up for you.” With that pronouncement, he proceeded to slap the two year old child across the face. According to the report, he hit her four or five times in succession. When I read the headline, I cracked up laughing. Because recently I have encountered some rude, noisy, touch everything and everyone, crumb snatchers, and have been incredulous that their parents seem oblivious as to what was going on. So I understand the man’s frustration at hearing a crying kid. But to put his hands on someone else’s child? AW HELL TO THE NAW!!!!!

My mother and I went to a local restaurant to eat. And there must have been a million kids acting fools and parent’s acting like their children didn’t belong to them. The were putting their nasty hands on everything and the manager had to tell a couple of people to control their kids or leave. As we were leaving, a kid cut in front of my mother. Mind you my mother walks with a cane. I called him a “little dumbass” and followed him with my eyes back to his seat. I saw him say something to his mother and point to me. At that point, I stopped walking, folded my arms over my chest, and starred at his mother. She proceeded to drop her head and continue eating. I continued out the door and left. If she would have even thought to “step stupid” with me, I would have beaten HER with HIM, and kept on going. I’m VERY PROTECTIVE of my mother and fucking with her is the fastest way to get hospitalized! So I do understand this man’s actions. I don’t agree with it but I understand it.

My last observation is this. This mother wasn’t Black or white. Because if she would have been Black, the story would have read “Black woman stomps the last breath out of white man for slapping her child!” I’m sure this loser picked someone who wouldn’t have hit him with the heaviest thing within arm’s reach like a Black mother would. Then she would have gotten on her cell phone and called the rest of the family who would have “mobbed in” and taken turns beating his ass. And the video of that would have been put on Youtube within the hour!

To be honest with you, If I had saw that, I might have stepped in and whupped his ass my damn self. You don’t mess with babies and old folks. I hope during his jail stay, someone returned the favor!

As I wrote in my post on July 1, 2009, “How old are you, anyways“, I spoke about the NBA requirement that players be at least 19 years old and a year out of high school before entering the league. Since most players entering the league are African American, I positioned that the rule was racist and prevents MEN who are old enough to die for their country, from being able to support their families. Recent events have given further proof that racism is alive and well in the NBA!

The next “great white hope” to enter the NBA in a few years is a kid named Ricky Rubio. He is from Spain and is supposed to be Magic, Nash, and Pete Maravich, all rolled into one. At 17, he played for the Spanish National Team and is said to have held his own against the United States team. At 18, just a few months ago, Rubio was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves. And needless to say, he isn’t very happy about it. The wolves have been AWFUL since the “Big Ticket“, Kevin Garnett left a few years ago. And the Wolves are pulling out all of the stops to get Ricky to come to Minnesota. But isn’t he only 18 years old? Wouldn’t that be against the NBA rules?

      Ya Mama!

I recently read that Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, made a comment to on opposing players mother. Cuban either called Denver Nugget Kenyon Martin a “thug” or a “punk” to Kenyon’s mother’s face or he agreed with comments made my other Maverick fans. And as fans were calling Martin a “thug”, Mark said “that includes your son!” OH HELL NO!!!!

Let’s start from the beginning. First off, Cuban has been a pompous ass since he came into the league. No owner has been fined as much or as often than he has. And he has literally ran out on the court to “protect” his players. WFT???? That’s like having your mama come up to the school after you have just gotten beaten up! But I digress. He has spent oodles of money making the Mavs locker room a place you never want to leave. And spent just as much money on players to try and “buy a championship.” It hasn’t happened.

The last two seasons, his teams have gotten EMBARRASSED in the playoffs with most fingers pointing AT him for his “hands on” mentality. He has placed his hopes and dreams on a guy, Dirk Notwizki, who is like another Dallas athlete, Cowboys Tony Romo, a STAT STUFFER! Great for fantasy football but you aren’t going to hoist a trophy with either guy being your “number one.” His team has been labeled “soft” with no “heart.” The players staged a MUTINY, and threatened to walk, unless then Coach Avery Johnson, was fired. He has made silly trades, Jason Kidd for Devin Harris?, and wonders why he is no closer to winning a title. Every loss reflects badly on HIM personally. So frustration is setting in.

I had to laugh when I read about the mother, Madlyn Primoff, who put her arguing children out of the car on the side of the road. I can’t even begin to remember the number of times my mother told my brother and me that she would “leave us here” if we didn’t stop arguing with each other. So to hear that a mother did just that made me laugh out loud. It also brought back the time my mother put my father out of the car too. And this was for real!

We, as a family, had plans to go to the drive-in. Boy I miss being able to go to the drive-in! But that is another post. My father came home from hanging out on the corner, and really didn’t want to go with us. His surly demeanor was readily apparent. So within a mile of our home, after listening to my father grumble, my mother told my father that he could “get out if you want to.” My father responded by saying “then pull the car over” which is EXACTLY WHAT MY MOTHER DID. And thinking my mother was bluffing, my father got out and shut the door. My mother turned the car around, went back to the house to get some money, and we headed to the movies. On the way, we saw my father walking home. I guess he thought my mother was going to pull over and pick him up. NOT!!!! Moms keep driving right on past him. When the movies ended, “Apple Dumpling Gang” and “Freaky Friday“, (funny what you remember, LOL), we went home. Naturally Pops wasn’t home. He did what he had wanted to do all along. Go hang out on the corner. But when he returned there was nothing said about it! It was as if nothing ever happened.

But for me, it left a lasting impression. I can remember when we, my mother, brother, and I, would head out to the store and Moms would say as we were getting into the car, “Don’t look at shit, don’t touch shit, cause’ you ain’t getting shit.” Sometimes she meant it and other times she didn’t. It usually depended on how tired from work she was. I also remember being in J.J. Newberries, (yes I am that old!), and having my mother tell my brother and I “busta pagu diablos.” (Spelling of the first two words is probably incorrect). Roughly translated that means “stop it you devils!!!” That was pretty much all my brother and I needed to hear. When Moms started talking to us in another language, we knew it was about to be “on” if we didn’t stop. So we stopped! LOL And when we wanted something from the store and she said “no” and started out to the car, the refrain of “If you aren’t in the car when I get there, I’m leaving” meant something. Hell, if she would leave our father by the side of the road, and not give it a second thought, our little asses didn’t stand a chance!

As I said in a previous post, cops aren’t my favorite people. And it doesn’t matter if they are gay or straight, male or female, black or white. In my almost 28 years of driving, I have been harassed, followed, and jack up by the police more times than I care to remember. And I have heard cops laughing and giggling about how they “made someone’s day” by giving them a bogus ticket. Yeah, real funny. Like I said, most of them are GANG MEMBERS with BADGES! And before anyone comments by saying “then don’t call the cops when you need help if that is the way you feel about it.” Trust me, most African Americans only call the police as a LAST RESORT because we know they are going to give a HALF-ASSED EFFORT in helping us so WHAT’S THE USE!!!!!!! But this incident has my blood boiling.

Professional Football player Ryan Moats was stopped by a cop for running a red light turning into a hospital. When he was stopped, he informed the cop that his mother-in-law was DYING and that was the reason he ran the light. Ryan’s wife, whose mother was dying, tried to explain the situation but the cop, Mr. Robert Powell, didn’t seem to care. Fearing that she wasn’t going to be able to say her final goodbye to the woman who raised her, Tamishia Moats ran into the hospital. We are all lucky that this heartless cop didn’t shoot her in the back!!!

Living in california and being a woman, and having an incident where Kara Knott was killed by a CHP, we have been told to put our flashers on if we feel nervous about the area we are being requested to stop at by the police. We were told that putting the flashers on lets the cop know that we see them. Moats’ did just that. The dashboard camera, showed just how cowardly Mr. Powell was. The more Moats tried to explain the situation, the angrier the cop became. After a heated exchange, Powell said, “Shut your mouth! You can either settle down and cooperate or I can just take you to jail for running a red light.” Ryan was also told his car could be towed. That he could be put in handcuffs. Take someone to jail for running a red light!!! You have got to be kidding me!

Let me begin by saying this. I have been in a similar situation that this young lady was in. But unlike her, I did not create the situation. It was created for me. And I probably felt just as bad as she did. The difference is that I am still here and she isn’t. Maybe age had something to do with it. Or maybe the fact that I’m not going out like that is the reason I’m still here. But either way, I feel little sympathy for her. I just DON’T!

I just read an article that stated a young girl committed suicide because of a “sexting” incident. For those of you who don’t know what “sexting” is, it’s sending sexy, nude, or pornographic pictures over your cell phone or other wireless device. This young lady sent the pictures to her then boyfriend, who after they broke up, sent those pictures to other girls, and you can bet the guys already saw them, who proceeded to make her life miserable. Miserable to the point that she hated going to school. And this is where the similarities begin.

At San Diego City College, there was a rumor that I was a lesbian. No one ever said they saw me with another woman. No one ever said they saw me do anything with any women. What was said is that I “looked” at other women. YUP, that was my crime! Not like Jack Tripper used to look at Chrissy, Janet, and Terry, just looked at them. And I endured semesters of whispers, murmurs, and pointing. And should someone not have known about my “crime“, it was quickly brought to their attention. Luckily for me, most of the people who were “told about me” didn’t seem to care. They continued to talk to me and it didn’t matter. But yes, there were times when I didn’t want to go to class. And times where I was ready to toss people off of the second floor of the building we were on. But I was in my mid twenties and saw the bigger picture. And the fact that I was usually one of the people who always “fucked up the curve“, I was able to get my revenge that way! No one had the balls to come up to my face and say anything. But the murmurs and other crap were aggravating just the same.

What do you have to hide, Doc?

              05

Most of my blog posts are about my views on things that struck me as wrong or hateful, hurtful, or just mean spirited. I’ve never been one to sit by and let things go on around me that were wrong and not try and stop it. In high school, both by brother and I were known to be people who would break up fights. People would literally have fights on the other end of the campus to make sure we weren’t around to stop it. I’ve also never been one to let people say and do whatever they wanted to do to me without me standing up for myself. I have lost jobs, when I couldn’t afford to lose jobs, because I REFUSED to let people lie on or about me. So when I initially read the article about some doctors forcing patients to sign waiver agreements it got my blood boiling. Essentially these “doctors” don’t want you to complain about the treatment they give you. There are web sites that you can go to, Vitals.com, Dr.Score.com and RateMD.com, that have ratings of doctors and their medical care. Medical type posts aren’t usually my foray, they are left to my mother’s blog, A Nurse’s Journey, but I couldn’t sit by and let this situation pass and not respond to it. If you have nothing to hide Doc, you should welcome a rating system!

If you read my mother’s blog, you will see that she has gone through a myriad of medical procedures and has seen a lot of doctors. Many times I was in the room with her when she met with these people, both male and female. While most of her doctors have been great, some of them have been real losers who really shouldn’t be in the medical profession!

One of the best doctors she has ever had is Dr. John Murphy from Kaiser Hospital in San Diego. This man has continually gone past the “line of duty” in caring for my mother and I will forever be grateful to him. It is neat to see the smiles that come across both my mother’s face and Dr. Murphy’s face when they see each other. His care is one of the reasons my mother is still alive today!
