I raised two kids on a nurse's salary and had paid vacation but choose to not use my sick time to travel. I saved it encase I had a prolong illness I would have my sick time as well as unused vacation time. I did get sick and had lots of time stored up. But staycation must have been around because my parents adhered to the practice as well as many of their friends. Thanks folk for putting a name to what we have been doing for years.
